# Hello Hey! We're Peregrine Coast Press, an international publishing co-operative. If you're here, you probably already know what we do. # Our Manifesto What is life without the arts? At Peregrine Coast Press, our publishing co-op, we focus on bringing the arts to all through stunning artwork, brilliant writing, and unparalleled creativity. The following manifesto details our commitments as a press to our co-op members, artists and writers, readers, and the larger community. ### Publications Peregrine Coast Press started as a place for writers and artists to share their love of popular media — and we want it to stay that way, while also taking chances on unique projects that may not be published elsewhere. This interdisciplinary approach allows us to enthusiastically share new ways of understand the world and furthering social justice through the arts. We’re committed to giving new writers and artists and historically marginalized writers and artists a voice in publishing — and inviting folks to share their expertise about both adversities faced by and successes of these communities. #### Inclusivity & Equity in Publishing Our press has a zero tolerance policy on racism, classism, ableism, sexism, and homophobia. We’re creating an inclusive and safe environment for co-op members, writers, artists, creatives, and our readers. Fascists fuck off. ### Brand As a publisher of innovative and creative projects, Peregrine Coast Press is building an open and positive brand image that reflects the type of work we publish and our commitment to justice and the power of co-ops. ❓**What is a co-op?**\ Co-ops are autonomous businesses run by members using a democratic system where each member has an equal share in the company. Our business goals and the visual content we produce will celebrate writers, artists, and pop culture with a fun, but critical edge. ### Commitment to Writers & Artists Writers, artists, and other creatives deserve to be paid fair, competitive rates for their work. At Peregrine Coast Press, fair pay for contributors are included in budgets and crowdfunding goals from the get-go. Additionally, in a commitment to transparency we share who we work with, how much we pay, and our costs per publication. ### Values #### Social Justice Publishing historically marginalized voices is not enough — we also need to support their communities and movements. Each year, Peregrine Coast Press will donate a portion of earnings to support grassroots community organizing groups doing important work in their communities. #### Sustainability We know the publishing industry is not without its environmental impacts. Our press commits to staying aware of the footprint we leave behind, while also prioritizing sustainable and climate-friendly alternatives within production. Additionally, we publish a twice yearly Environmental Impact Review, which will be available to the public. #### Helping hands It’s hard to get started in publishing — we know that. So, we’re leaving the ladder behind. Peregrine Coast Press will share everything we’ve learned and built to help other indies grow. # The Creator Fund To support creators from marginalised and poor backgrounds, we pledge to set aside £1 from every purchase on our store towards our Creator Fund. Once we've built up at least £100, we'll open up applications for the Creator Fund. The successful applicant will get a physical print run handled and paid for by us, with the rest of the money going straight to them as a no strings attached grant they can use to pay for their costs. We will also put the project up for sale on the Peregrine Coast Press shop according to our regular wholesale terms of 50%.

# Stock with Peregrine Coast Press If you'd like us to stock your books, games, zines, or any other form of physical media then shoot me an email to and include the following: * The name of your item * Brief description of what it's about - no need to send an essay, a quick pitch is more than enough * Dimensions: size and weight help us figure out if we've got the space for it * Its [wholesale](/fulfilment/glossary) price * Its [retail](/fulfilment/glossary) price * A digital copy we can have a look through, if possible It'd be ace if you've got a Press Kit that you could send over, but don't worry about it if you're a hobbyist or just starting out and don't have one. The most useful things to feature in a Press Kit for me: * Photos of your item (or some nice renders, if you don't have photo chops) * Product description and tagline ### Striking a deal PCP is still pretty small so I'll usually take 5-10 copies of an item so that I can test out how well it sells. Honestly, I'm still pretty dependent on creators driving traffic to *us,* so I might ask that you link to the PCP shop somewhere on your product page so folks know they can get physical copies from me. # Getting Started Welcome to our public fulfilment guide! # Crowdfunder Distribution ### 🤔 How it works 1. You run your crowdfunding campaign and get a load of awesome backers! 2. Let us know the SKUs that we’ll ship (check out [Goods-In Procedures](/fulfilment/goods-in-procedures)), particularly if you have complicated tiers 3. Once backers have submitted their addresses, you send us the shipping data (check out [Goods Outbound](/fulfilment/goods-outbound)) and we'll send them an invoice to pay their exact shipping fee 4. You send us the stock to fulfil directly from your printer 5. We ship it out :tada: # Wholesale Distribution We’ll hold stock on your behalf from your printers, and ship it out to stores on demand. Quick, easy and painless for you! ### 🤔 How it works 1. We agree in advance the SKUs that we’ll hold on your behalf (check out [Goods-In Procedures](/fulfilment/goods-in-procedures)) 2. You send us the inventory which we’ll store on your behalf - make sure you keep your own inventory tracking so you don’t oversell! 3. You’ll ping us an email when you need to send out some stock and we’ll let you know the pricing options 4. We’ll get it sent out and let you know the tracking ### 🛃 Customs We handle all the customs paperwork on your behalf, however any customs duties or charges are something the recipient will need to settle on receipt and you are responsible for giving us accurate information to complete it. **You must give us a valid EORI for all EU recipients.** For orders into the EU we can offer DDP (Delivered Duty Paid)\*. We will bill you for the relevant VAT in advance and pay it to the customs authority via our carrier. \* this excludes France, where we are unable to offer DDP as French law requires the recipient to pay customs directly #### 🇫🇷 Businesses in France If you are shipping to a business in France, we are unable to offer DDP. We are also **required** to provide the following data: * valid French EORI * valid French registered EU VAT Number (derived from the SIREN) We will not be able to ship any bulk B2B orders without this data. If it is incorrect this may result in the shipment being delayed or returned to us. Shipping costs are unfortunately non-refundable. # Goods-in Procedures As you might expect, we get a lot of mail and it’s important that we keep track of exactly what is coming and going! We’ll try to keep this as lightweight and flexible as possible - we know you can’t always control how packages are sent to us. {% hint style="danger" %} You must have an agreement with us (via email) to hold a particular SKU before it is shipped to us. We're super flexible about this but **please don't** send us anything without prior agreement! {% endhint %} ### :handshake: Confirming SKUs Let us know once you've confirmed the SKUs you'll be sending us. This doesn't have to be before your campaign ends, but we do need to know the details before you ship anything to us :eyes: Take a copy and fill out [this template,](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1frxtOoDdv53twMpfie8S0xzA_1ahj9otB-q3BiUgf6o/edit) then share it back to us via Google Drive. We'll get the SKUs configured on our end and make sure all the customs data is set up properly. ### 📄 Pre-Advice Once your stock starts shipping to us, fill out our pre-advice form: [Pre-Advice - Peregrine Coast Press Fulfilment](https://forms.gle/5be6mSikB23xuqw46) You will receive email confirmation and be able to edit your pre-advice if you make a mistake. **Note:** shipments that are received without a corresponding pre-advice will be chargeable, and may be rejected. ### ✔️ Checking When we receive your shipment, we’ll let you know and confirm we have received it in good order and we believe it to be complete. If we need to count or inventory your items because it’s unclear what we have been sent, this will be chargeable per SKU in the shipment. # Goods Outbound You got a load of orders and you want to get those zines on their way to customers. Sounds good! ### Shipping Frequency We tend to ship weekly on a Saturday, batching up orders. If we (or you!) receive lots of orders earlier in the week we’ll look at shipping before then. ### File format We try not to be too prescriptive about this, but we do have requirements that need to be adhered to otherwise we cannot ship your stock efficiently 😕 We do charge for reworking files that don’t meet our specification, but you’ll always be able to fix it yourself instead. We accept CSVs using commas as column delimiters, and semi-colons as row delimiters. Each row must contain (at least): * Order ID * Name (first name/last name) * Address Line 1 * City * Postcode * Country * SKU * Quantity * Line item price * Order total price * Shipping option (see below) You can optionally include: * Address Line 2 * Address Line 3 * County/State * Product Name * Email * Phone Other fields we’ll generally ignore. If you’re sending multiple SKUs in a single shipment, you should repeat the following columns (with the appropriate values) on another row: * Order ID (used to link the rows) * SKU * Quantity * Line item price * Order total price [Here's an example for you to check out!](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q6_YUomR1TpgoccIUSOqoUHwcMHVf0Dkts31CrbbyFA/edit#gid=0) ### Reformatting BackerKit / Kickstarter Data We're able to do this for you using some internal tooling we've developed. It's charged at our standard data reformatting rate. ### Order Total Price You are responsible for ensuring this is accurate as it will be declared to customs authority on legal documents. If we do not believe it is a true representation of the value of the goods we may be unable to ship your orders. We use this field to calculate additional DDP fees due where applicable. ### Sending us files Please share these with us via Google Drive (or equivilant). Email attachments aren't secure so *please* avoid those! ### Return files We can provide return files on request. These include tracking details (if the shipping product has them) and the additional information about the shipment (weight, size etc) # Customs and Import If you’re sending us zines from overseas make sure to take note! Also note that we’re not lawyers, this isn’t legal advice and if you’re unsure please consult an appropriate professional 😅 ### Correct customs declarations It is *super* important that you complete the customs declaration (CN22/CN23) correctly before your package is sent 🙏 Seriously! There is often very little we can do if it turns out this isn’t right, and it can be expensive 😭 You must declare the goods, their HS code and their value accurately and truthfully. Not doing so means the men with big dogs will come and hound you down (and your package will get stuck for ages)! 🐶 #### HS Codes HS Codes are harmonised goods codes which tell Border Force what you’re bringing in and which category it’s in. Then it can be mapped to the appropriate import charge. If you’re not sure what the correct code is, please check here: [trade-tariff.service.gov.uk](https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk) For zines and books you should use 4901990000. If you have other components (eg. stickers, patches) you **must** declare them separately unless they are pre-bundled (ie. sealed in with) a zine, and are making up a minor part of that bundle. ### Contact Details Please make sure our address, email and phone number and correct and supplied to your shipping provider. This is super important so they can contact us for customs clearance. You should also provide our EORI - just ask us for it via email. ### Quantities and Values Please make sure you accurately inventory the correct quantity of items that are being imported. You should be declaring the value of the goods as sold. If you are shipping us materials to fulfil a Kickstarter, you should declare the retail price of each item, as paid for by the backers. If you’ve sold us zines directly, or are stocking them with us for sale, you should declare the wholesale cost or price you sold the zines to us at. ### Paying customs charges If we get a bill customs charges associated with your pre-advice, we’ll let you know before paying it. Unfortunately, usually the only option is to simply pay the charge of the shipment will be returned to sender or destroyed. We won’t charge you extra for paying the fee, and if we think there has been an error (and your shipment reached us via Royal Mail or Parcelforce) we will submit the documentation to dispute the fees. # Pricing ## Fulfilment We'll pick, pack and ship your orders on your behalf. The single price includes all materials and shipping charges. We charge flat fees across the EU and internationally to make it easier for you to charge your customers the right price. **How the weight bands work** Each band includes one SKU up to (not including) the next band. It just applies to the weight of your items - I'll handle the packaging. Additional SKUs are charged at a flat £1.20 per additional pick. ### Untracked Untracked airmail with no compensation.

### EU DDP We are able to offer DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) on shipping. We charge a flat **25% of declared value** to cover the import tax & duties of your zines, and our additional administration costs associated with doing so. Note that this is a **fixed** fee and doesn't vary based on local taxes or the goods you're sending. This allows you to charge your backers a single percentage of tax for the regions we support DDP to. ***What is DDP?*** Usually we deliver items without customs charges or duty paid. The recipient receives notification from the postal service and pays the levied charges and an administration fee. With DDP, we pay any charges on your behalf before the border so your zines are delivered quicker, more reliably and without the recipient having to take any action. ## Bundling and Assembly We don't routinely do assembly, however we do consider requests to help people out. Assembly is taking multiple items (eg. multiple zines, player sheets, stickers etc.) and combining them into a single pack to be sold as a combined SKU. Please [contact us](mailto:fulfilment@peregrinecoast.press) if you think you might need this! # Privacy Policy {% hint style="info" %} This policy applies to data we collect from our customers (’clients’) who use our fulfilment services. The data subjects are generally the end customer, who have purchased from our clients. {% endhint %} We work with various folks who want to send you an awesome product! Sometimes they collect your details directly and then pass them on to us. In other cases they will ask us to collect your details directly on their behalf. The information we may collect from you is: * Your name * Your address * Your email address * Your phone number We process this information for the purposes of: * Knowing who and where we're sending stuff to! * Being able to contact you if there is an issue with your address, or your goodies are returned to us 😟 * Sending you tracking information for some shipments, via our carriers * Providing contact information to customs agencies, where requested, so they can arrange release of your package to you * Invoicing the company sending you awesome stuff the correct amount We will store your information securely and delete it within 6 months of the date of shipping. We keep it that long so we can get in contact with anyone whose package is returned. We store data about which items we shipped for which order identifier for a period of 6 years, for accountancy purposes. We use this to provide high level analytics - how many packages we shipped to how many countries. We pass on your data to our shipping & carrier partners so they can deliver your package to you. We currently ship to individuals via Royal Mail, Parcelforce and DHL. We will also share your data with MEADS Ltd who we sub-contract warehouse operations to. We'll also comply with any legal law enforcement or judicial requests to provide information, as required under UK law. We **do not** use your data for any other purpose such as advertising. SKU

Stock-keeping unit (pronounced “skew”). This a unique identifier we assign to an item as sold, ie. if you’re selling a zine bundled with a patch, that’s one SKU. If you’re selling a zine with a patch but also making the zine available individually, that’d be two separate SKUs. SKUs help us keep an accurate inventory of everything that arrives and makes it easier to work out shipping fees.

Fulfilment vs Distribution

Fulfilment: You send us your stock and we send it out to your customers. You provide us with the addresses and we’ll invoice you for the shipping fees and time according to our [Pricing & Invoicing ](https://www.notion.so/Pricing-Invoicing-b8579332aafe45bf86606ff3f953d89e)policy. Distribution: We buy your stock and sell it to other retailers.

Retail vs Wholesale Pricing

Retail: This is the price you want your items to be sold at. The most common retail price for a staplebound TTRPG zine in the UK is currently £12, but you can charge as much or as little as you’d like (though we’d always encourage you to increase your prices). Wholesale: We buy your stock at a 30-50% discount so that we can sell it on our store.

# Claims We really want things to go right, but unfortunately things can go wrong and it's important that we all understand how we'll resolve that when it happens. ## Direct to customer ### Within the UK Any claims for loss or damage must be emailed to us within 30 calendar days of the date you released the shipment data to us. The email must contain a description of the issue and, if appropriate, photographs of the damage that has ocurred. ### International We do not offer compensation for international items, unless sent via a tracked service. ## Business - consignment & distribution Any claims for loss or damage must be emailed to us within 30 calendar days of the date you released the shipment data to us. We will insure the contents up to the customs value you provide us with. # ℹ️ Updates We'll keep this set of documentation updated.
